Are you planning on flying first class for your honeymoon? Well, if you are, then you might want to think about it first and see if your money wouldn’t be better spent on other things. It is easy to understand why honeymoon couples choose to fly first class when they are going on their honeymoon, but is it really worth it?

History of Flying First Class

Did you know that in the past, the passengers that sat in the front of the plane were considered upper class, to the envy of other passengers flying in the back of the plane. In the past these seats were more luxurious with plenty of space and silver service, distinguishing those with money from the “economy class.” Today, it is different, because on many flights first class is often the same quality as the old business class, not at all romantic!

Below are four reasons you should consider before you fly first class on your honeymoon:

  1. Destination Choice
  2. Will you be flying domestic? Are you heading to the Caribbean or maybe Mexico for your honeymoon? If you are, many of the air flights are usually less than five hours, so you are not on the plane long enough to really take advantage of any first class services. Secondly, short-haul flights tend to be smaller planes without a separate section for first class, which is when first and business class merge into one.

  3. Airline Company
  4. The airline company that you select will determine if you really want to spend the extra money on first class tickets. Many of the North American airline companies don’t offer that many perks for their first class services. If you are booking with Delta, then first class provides an alcoholic drink, added food choices, and Wi-Fi that is free; you will also get extra legroom. To make a bigger difference when flying first class, you should choose one of the luxury airlines such as Air France, British Airways or Emirate Airways. These airlines provide luxury first class accommodations, and their seating is more like an apartment than a plane.

  5. Prices
  6. International flights from North America can vary in price. Economy class seats can range from $500, but for first class it can jump to $1500, and sometimes more. Can you really afford an additional $1500 just for seats? You can spend that extra money on your vacation. You can rent a yacht, go to a luxurious spa, or have a private chef treat you and your spouse to a romantic, and private meal. Newlyweds should really think twice before they spend the extra price on first class tickets for their honeymoon.

  7. Plane Type
  8. You may not think the plane type is of any importance, but it can be important when you are traveling first class. The older planes doesn’t come with many benefits and features, but you will still pay a big price, and smaller planes just don’t have the space to offer luxury either. Some planes that you book only offer single row seating for their first class passengers, so you consider the plane type before you book first class seating.
