If you’re vacationing in Cabo San Lucas, or in Los Cabos in general, there are going to be a few “must-see” places recommended to you. Land’s End is just one of them, but it’s worthy of special note.

Land’s End is the Anglican name for the Spanish “El Arco” (the Arch), but in both cases the name refers to a stunning rock formation which stands proudly in the ocean off the coast of Los Cabos.

Why Land’s End?

Well, El Arco is the most southwesterly point of Baja California, Mexico, and to stand at the edge is to see nothing but Ocean… locals say that during the Age of Discovery and the Golden Age of Pirates sailors dubbed it such because they believed it was the last landmass before Antarctica! Like most spots called Land’s End, however, the legends are less than 100% concrete… nonetheless this is a beautiful spot.

Geography

The landmark itself rises from the sea bed, and so El Arco and Land’s End could be said to be separate places, but nonetheless they mark the spot at which the Sea of Cortez (and Gulf of California) meet the Pacific Ocean proper.

How do you get to Land’s End?

Many people take one of the tours that are readily available throughout Los Cabos and at the Cabo Marina. The benefit of organised tours is that you will generally have an experienced and knowledgeable guide to make the experience more memorable, but if you prefer to go solo you can hire a water taxi at the marina, too.

What can you do at Land’s End?

Depending upon which of the two beaches you set up on, Lover’s Beach or Divorce beach, you can sunbathe, build sandcastles, play beach games, and eat (both beaches), or even swim, snorkel, dive, and paddle board (Lover’s Beach, as the currents are too strong at Divorce Beach).
