A new Puerto Vallarta activity is the Chocolate Walk where guests gets to go on tour at three of the most popular and impressive chocolate producers from Puerto Vallarta. Guests will even get to see inside of two of the production kitchens where you will see different chocolates are being made, but beware because the sights, smells, and scents will surely make your appetite grow from the samples of chocolates you get to enjoy. Your taste buds will want more and you will be able to purchase your favorite chocolate treats too!

Local History and Chocolate Combined

The walking tour will take you around Puerto Vallarta where you will walk from shop to shop and you will learn about the local history of Puerto Vallarta the previous sleepy fishing village along with the history of chocolate. During the walking tour, you will learn about the history of chocolate and how it became so popular. It started by the tribespeople in the country, then in Europe, and chocolate is one of the favorite sweets that is enjoyed in the entire world.

Chocolate and the Mayans and Aztecs

For almost 4,000 years is how long chocolate has been around. The Mayans and the Aztecs along with other groups were very fond of the cacao tree bean. Each of them used the bean for different purposes as the Mayans used it for medicinal purposes and the Aztecs used it as the main ingredient for a beverage that they would make for ceremonies. The word chocolate came from “Xocoatl”, which was an Aztec word they used to for the beverage they made from the cacao bean.
