Cabo San Lucas: Top 5 Day Trips

Santiago
Santiago is just a short 23-mile drive from Cabo San Lucas just north of the Los Cabos International Airport. Santiago was first founded in 1723 as the “Mision de Santiago el Apostol”. This charming town has an amazing, yet small rustic museum that is next to the church where visitors will see intriguing exhibits, fossils, and colonial artifacts. The Santiago museum is open Monday thru Friday from 8-1pm, and there is no cost to visit the museum. Santiago is surrounded by fruit orchard trees, farms, and literally thousands of palm trees. The palm trees are grown for their leaves as they are used in constructing palapa roofs. The fruit orchard trees are orange, mango, and grapefruit. While you are visiting Santiago, you will want to make sure you stop at one of the family-owned restaurants in the town. You will enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine that is fresh and delicious. When you are ready to relax, you can do so at one of the hot springs that are located on the southern edge of the town which include El Chorro, Santa Rita, and Agua Caliente Springs.
La Paz
Baja California Sur’s capital city is La Paz which is home to approximately 250,000 residents. La Paz also happens to be a vital regional commercial center in Mexico. La Paz has been steadily growing since the 2000’s due to the fact that La Paz has one of the highest standards of living in the entire country. When you are ready to go on this day trip, you will want to leave Cabo early because there are several wonderful coastal villages that you can stop in on your way to La Paz. The first place that you should visit is the historical center when you arrive at La Paz. It has amazing exhibits and artifacts, then you can stroll on the Malecon Boardwalk as there are plenty of things to see and do there, too. The lovely Bahia de La Paz sea views and interesting architecture are what impress the visitors the most.
Miraflores
A charming, quaint, and laid-back village is Miraflores which is found 30 miles from the Los Cabos Airport. Miraflores is in the center of many ranches and organic farms, and the town is situated at the foothills of the Sierra Laguna Mountains. While you are visiting this charming town, you should visit some of the locally run leather shops and workshops that are found on both sides of the road as you enter the town. If you have been searching for handmade leather goods that are unique, then you will be thrilled with the choices available. You can pick up wallets, purses, belts, and you can pick something special for that cowboy or cowgirl needing a leather horse saddle. After an afternoon of shopping, you can go to the hot springs that are located at the foothills of the mountains where you can relax and distress.

Thousands of people flock to this town during the Festival de Cine and the Todos Santos Music Festival. One favorite and popular landmark in Todos Santos is the Hotel California, and you will want to make sure you visit it during your day trip from Cabo.
San Jose Del Cabo
San Jose Del Cabo is just 25 miles from Cabo San Lucas, and it is one of the only towns in the region that has been inhabited for hundreds of years. The Native Indian people thrived in the area prior to colonization by the Spanish due to the freshwater lagoons that are lined by palm trees. Years later San Jose Del Cabo was a stop for Spanish vessels needing to stop for water and provisions. The Spanish vessels would travel from the east and they carried valuable silks and spices for trading.
