Such markets are a huge part of the atmosphere of Puerto Vallarta where public art is as much a part of the city as the venerable board-walk, the Malecon, that dominates the downtown area.

The Malecon itself is lined with sculptures, created by home-bred Mexican artists like Ramiz Barquet, Alejandro Colunga, Sergio Bustamante and Jonas Gutiérrez, some of which are actually interactive. When you come off the promenade, you’ll find that the human statues and caricaturists in the area are incredibly talented, as well as being lovely people in general.
