2. Whale Shark Tours

Another of the most popular reasons to visit Cancun on vacation is that between the months of May and September, the coastline of Cancun becomes home to some of nature’s most majestic and gentle giants. Rhincodon Typus (the Whale Shark) is a herbivore and is in no way aggressive or dangerous towards humans. There are many tours in Cancun which allow you to swim with these wonderful creatures and really get up close and personal with the awesome power of nature while on vacation.

3. Mayan Ruins

The Yucatan Peninsula is teeming with Mayan ruins and archaeological sites and they are all beautiful. There are two in particular, however, that really warrant a visit if you have the time. Chichen Itza is the largest and most famous of the ruins in the area and is roughly an hour and a half from Cancun. For a family day out, Tulum in the Sian Ka’an biosphere, is top notch. The site was once a Mayan trading post and, as such, is set directly above a wonderful beach on which you and your family could have lunch and while away the hours.
